USGBC's ILLINOIS HEALTHY & HIGH PERFORMING SCHOOLS SYMPOSIUM

This symposium for Illinois K-12 schools will cover topics including facility planning, green facilities management, sustainable renovation and construction, energy efficiency and conservation and environmental education.

 

This is an opportunity to exchange ideas and converse with school and district administrators, superintendents, board members, facilities managers, etc.

COMED COMPUTER POWER MGMT REBATE 

ComEd is now offering a $15 rebate per desktop unit for any of their private-sector customers who purchase and install a qualifying desktop power management solution on networked computers.

Power management software can save hundreds of dollars a year on computer energy usage and help extend their useful life.

Rebates are available until May 31, 2014 or while funding remains.

SPOTLIGHT: GREEN NOZZLE PROGRAM

DCEO's Green Nozzle Program administered by the Energy  Resources Center provides FREE high-efficiency pre-rinse spray valves for  commercial kitchens in public buildings. The 0.65 gallon per minute sprayers will save approx. $400 in annual gas bills.


Similar programs for the private sector are available from Ameren Illinois, Nicor Gas, North Shore Gas and Peoples Gas Customers.

SEDAC client, Hamburger Mary's,
a green certified  restaurant in Chicago has implemented the pre-rinse spray valves at no cost and saved an estimated $915 a year. Co-Owner Brandon Wright was thrilled with the program, mentioning that the sprayers "Work great!"

ALTERNATIVE FUEL SMARTPHONE APP

DOE has recently launched an app that allows you to easily locates nearby alternative fueling stations (E85, biodiesel, electric charging, compressed natural gas, etc...). Check it out at energy.gov/alternative-fueling-station-locator.
