Q: What services does the SMART ENERGY program provide?

  • Energy efficiency analyses and technical design assistance services for Illinois businesses and public buildings. These analyses identify opportunities for saving energy and money in both existing buildings and new designs;
  • Free technical design assistance services for Illinois businesses and public buildings to identify opportunities for saving energy and money;
  • Feasibility studies designed to identify economic incentives;
  • Introduction to our Pre Qualified Service Energy Provider Network;
  • Identifying economic opportunities with the EPAct 2005 tax incentive program;
  • Education and Training.

Q: Is there a cost for the program/services?

A: Services are provided for free. However, services are limited so we prefer to optimize our time with you. For those clients that utilize extensive resources, we anticipate that you intend to implement our suggestions and we will continue to follow-up with you to assist in the implementation process.

Q: Will I be able to afford SEDAC's recommendations?

A: SEDAC analysis will only recommend cost effective improvements that satisfy the criteria of positive monthly cash flow, internal rate of return, and net present value.

Q: Does SEDAC provide funding for energy efficiency projects?

A: No, SEDAC does not provide funding for energy efficiency projects. However, SEDAC can point you in the right direction for potential funding sources. The reports written by SEDAC can be used as backup when applying for loans.

Q: How long will it take to get some recommendations?

A: It depends on the depth of the analysis. Quick advice can be instant; if a site visit and in-depth energy analysis is required it will be 5 - 8 weeks.
