Tom Abram

More Info...

Tom began his career at SEDAC after attaining his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois. His time at SEDAC was a crash course in energy efficiency, engineering economics, and sustainable design. He cherishes his time with his coworkers and site visits with clients across Illinois. He currently designs mechanical systems for net zero energy and other deep green buildings at Integral Group in San Jose, California. Tom focuses on passive approaches, radiant cooling and heating systems, dedicated outside air systems, and other strategies to minimize energy use and improve indoor environmental quality. His projects include the Exploratorium museum, Google, and University of Oregon's Hatfield-Dowlin Complex.

Tom previously worked as Sustainability Coordinator at the University of Illinois, he worked on building energy efficiency and LEED projects, coordinated grants, taught LEED accreditation courses, provided support to the Student Sustainability Committee, and co-authored the University's Climate Action Plan. Tom also holds a Masters Degree in Sustainable Design and Construction from Stanford University, where he was a teaching assistant for Energy Efficient Buildings and Predicting and Measuring Building Energy Performance.
